
A vaccine for protecting cervical cancer has got the final approval by Health Canada and ready to be sold in Canada under the brand name Gardasil by Merck Frosst Canada.
It shields against infection from four strains of human papillomavirus (HPV) that causes about 70% of cases of cervical cancer.
Health Canada has given preliminary approval for vaccinating girl child aged 9-26.
The vaccine will be available in the market by the end of August that will cost about $135 per dose.
