Multivitamins, which were restricted to heart diseases and cancer, are now used to fight diabetes of Type 2. A recent survey published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, USA, has studied the operativeness of mineral supplement and multivitamins on people aged between 45 and 64, one-third of whom had Type 2 diabetes.
The survey found that those diabetics, who were on a mineral supplement, were less vulnerable to respiratory infections, flu and gastrointestinal infections than those not taking any mineral supplement.
The inference was that supplements were helpful in covering up nutritional deficiencies in a patient. Therefore, the diabetics are recommended to have a daily dose of multivitamins to stay away from infectious diseases.
