
Scientists from India, US and Germany have discovered three inheritable genes, which causes cataracts. It is found to be restricted to Indian families. The scientists at the Center for Genetic Disorders of Guru Nanak Dev University have concluded the study after thirty years of joint study. The study has done along with the scientists of National Institute of Health, US and the Institute of Human Genetics in Berlin in India.
The joint group of the scientists of three countries have discovered three genes causing Fan-Shaped, Cerulean and Sutural cataracts. They have said that these findings of new genes responsible for the disease may lead to potential treatments too.
